C’est la Vie

Song by Virgile

(Verse 1)

You left this world on a bike
Just riding easy
You were supposed to be here
If just to guard me
You somehow passed me the torch
Down through the ether
And now it’s my turn to guard
And be you for her

 (Pre-chorus)

And every time I feel
That this world isn’t right
That nothing ’s ever fair
And it’s not worth the fight
Then something comes around
That makes me change my mind
And just like that
Somehow, it’s still alright

 (Chorus)

Those shadow-monsters will fade in the light
‘Cause nothing’s more than what it’s meant to be
Don’t let your fire burn away your spark
The dark was never something you could see
çà, C’est la vie (çà, C’est la vie, ooh, ooh)

 (Verse 2)

The song was stuck in my throat
Nothing came easy
I didn’t have all the words
To share what’s inside of me
But life is never all locks
There ’s notes and keys here
And my biggest gift
May well be my biggest fear

 (Pre-chorus)

And every time I feel
That this world isn’t right
That nothing ’s ever fair
And it’s not worth the fight
Then something comes around
That makes me change my mind
And just like that
Somehow, it’s still alright

 (Chorus)

Those shadow-monsters will fade in the light
‘Cause nothing’s more than what it’s meant to be
Don’t let your fire burn away your spark
The dark was never something you could see

(Repeat chorus)

 çà, C’est la vie

  (Bridge)

Sometimes a failure’s worth more than a win
Even if things get under your skin
‘Cause things also move you and wake you within
The best skin to be in ’s the one that you’re in

(Chorus)

Those shadows-monsters will fade in the light
‘Cause nothing’s more than what it’s meant to be
Don’t let your fire burn away your spark
The dark was never something you could see

 (Repeat chorus)

çà, C’est la vie  -  çà, C’est la vie  -  çà, C’est la vie

About C’est La Vie

This song hits Virgile’s head while he was waiting for his backing vocalist and best girl friend in London close to her flat. While he was standing between Laurel Court and Geneva Court, Virgile got a glimpse of the latter. The melody of the chorus stung in his head and he urged himself to record it on his phone. Then he thought: ‘It ‘s meant to be’. The first verse expresses how much Virgile was shocked by the sudden death of his Godfather falling from his bike while coming back from work to home as he used to do it for years. ‘You somehow passed me the torch’ is the way Virgile got the message from this unfortunate event.
