Song by Virgile
(Verse 1)
The sun is out today, the street is buzzin’
Open my window just to let the love in
There’s noise, and prams and dogs and lovers walking
I’m gonna take it all in
Fresh bread from downstairs wafts up through the air
So do exhaust fumes, trash, and a joint from somewhere
(Chorus 1)
What a day
What a beautiful day
But all I want to do is run away
Run away (run away – run away)
(Verse 2)
I wash my face, go out to greet the city
Stop at the little shop that makes the best fruit tea
Sit by the pavement, watch the grit and the beauty
I’m gonna take it all in
They set the carousel up, new and bright
Bartenders opening pubs, they’re sweeping away the last night
(Chorus 2)
What a day
What a beautiful day
But all I want to do is run away
Run away (run away – run away)
(Verse 3)
A day that’s made to live without even trying
There’s living statues, and kids climbing on lions
Sun slips behind the bridge, I feel like crying
I’m gonna take it all in
The streets fill up with bodies pulsing life
The bars light up like jewels, scattered across the darkness
(Chorus 3)
What a night (what a night)
What a beautiful night (what a beautiful night)
But all I want to do is say goodbye
Say goodbye (say goodbye - say goodbye)
And all I want to do is run away
Run away
(Repeat)
(Outro)
I want to run away
I am saying Goodbye (ad lib)

About London in Springtime
This song was created by Virgile while he was playing the bass in his room in London; the riff came first. Virgile was unclear about how to proceed and Cléo helped him to further build the music. Spring 2022 in London was quite depressing between the anxiety associated with the future of Covid-19 issues around the world, the life that was coming back to normal, but with still risk of Covid-19 for the most vulnerable. Virgile was under the pressure of his final exams at BIMM University and looking forward to being done, but with mixed feelings that the past two years of Covid-19 would have reduced times for relationships with musicians and friends.
